If you are going to be using engineered wood flooring for your project, you may want to consider our “Tailored Flooring” range. This will give you complete control over your flooring from start to finish and your finished floor will be created by you.
There are 4 steps to take.
STEP 1) This is the technical part.
Generally, there are two thicknesses of engineered flooring to choose from. We will ask you some simple questions about your project to determine what the best option is for you. Things like “do you have underfloor heating” and “is you new floor being laid on to a screed or timber joists” Once we have the relevant information, our salesperson will confirm the best option for you.
Step 2) Choosing the size of your floor.
The two main factors here are the width and length of your flooring. If you are choosing a plank floor, you will have a choice of widths to choose from. From 140mm wide up to 320mm wide and in total there are 10 widths available to you. Our team will advise which would look best based upon the size of the rooms in question and the look you want to achieve.
Step 3) Choosing the “grade” of your flooring.
To put this simply, this all about the knots in your floor and the colour variation across your floor once installed. Generally, there are three options to choose from.
- RUSTIC B – Filled knots up to 6cm in diameter and a high level of colour variation across the floor. Some sapwood can be present.
- RUSTIC A – Filled knots up to 3.5cm in diameter and a medium level of colour variation across the floor compared to Rustic B. There will be no sapwood.
- RUSTIC A&B MIX – This is a combination of the above.
- SELECT/PRIME – Filled knots up to 1.5cm in diameter. Limited colour variation and no sapwood.
Step 4) Choosing the colour of your floor.
There is a vast range of colour choices to choose from, far too many to show here. They range for the “Bare Oak” through to “Burnt Chocolate” and every colour in between. Our salesperson will work through this process with you, taking into consideration all the other elements within your property.
